Rospotrebnadzor took control of the situation with meningitis at the warehouse of the Ozon marketplace in Istra, Moscow Region. This was reported on the website of the Moscow Region Department of Rospotrebnadzor.

“In connection with the registration of cases of infectious meningitis among individual employees of the warehouse complex of the Ozon marketplace, located in the city of Ozon. Istra, Moscow Region, specialists from the Regional Department of Rospotrebnadzor have organized a set of sanitary and anti-epidemic measures to prevent the spread of infection, ”the website says.

11 people were hospitalized with symptoms of the disease. Another 15 people with signs of SARS were placed in medical facilities for treatment, observation and laboratory examination.

The press service of Ozon told RBC that several employees from the company's warehouse in Novaya Riga (located in Istra) fell ill with meningococcal infection, but clarified that there was no mass infection among workers, and the warehouse itself was processed and continues to function. The company also added that they are vaccinating employees with the certified Menactra medicine, as well as regular check-ups. The Mash TELEGRAM channel reported that the sick employees of the Ozon warehouse lived in the Nakhabino hostel, four to five people in a room.

The press service of the marketplace also clarified to RBC that the infection does not spread through goods, “therefore, you should not worry about the safety of orders for HEALTH.” Meningococcus spreads by airborne droplets from person to person only at close range and with close contact. “It can spread through dishes, but only if you eat from the same plate with the sick person or drink from the same bottle,” the press service added.
