Putin extended counter-sanctions for two years

President Vladimir Putin extended the restrictive measures on foreign trade, introduced by decree in March 2022, for another two years, until December 31, 2027. The decree was published on the legal information portal.

The presidential decree issued in March imposed restrictions on the export and import of certain products and raw materials. The government determines the list of these goods . The measures were initially in effect until the end of 2023, but Putin later extended them until December 31, 2025.

The list of goods subject to bans and restrictions includes technological, telecommunications, and medical equipment, vehicles, and agricultural machinery . The measures apply to legal entities from "unfriendly countries." The Cabinet of Ministers determined the list in the spring of 2022.

It includes the United States , EU member states, Canada , Japan , the United Kingdom , and others. The list contains 49 countries in total. They condemned Russia's military operation in Ukraine and imposed a number of sanctions. Moscow considers the Western restrictions illegal.
