The Ministry of Industry and Trade confirmed that direct air service between Russia and the Philippines, interrupted by the pandemic, will resume in October 2025.COVID-19 . This was announced by Deputy Minister Alexey Gruzdev at a meeting of the Joint Russian-Philippine Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. According to the official, the restoration of flights will contribute to the development of tourism and an increase in mutual tourist flow.

"The first flights from two Russian cities to the Philippines are planned for the near future, in October of this year," TASS quotes the deputy minister as saying.

According to Gruzdev,  more than 27,000 Russians visited Philippine resorts in 2024 , 19% more than the previous year.

From January to July 2025, nearly 18,000 Russians visited the archipelago, which is approximately 16% more than in the same months of 2024, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) reported, citing the Philippines Department of Tourism.

Russian residents are currently forced to travel to the archipelago in the western Pacific Ocean via connecting flights. Flights from Moscow to Manila, the capital of the Philippines, typically take 17–18 hours, with connections in Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Guangzhou, and other airports, according to the Turdom portal.

In early September, IrAero opened ticket sales for direct flights to Boracay Island (Philippines) from two Russian cities: Irkutsk and Khabarovsk. The first flight from Irkutsk is scheduled for October 25, and from Khabarovsk for October 28.

Flights to and from Boracay will be operated on Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft. Flight duration will be approximately 8 hours, including technical stops at Chinese airports: Ningbo (for flights from Khabarovsk) and Guilin (for flights from Irkutsk).
