A drunk driver was at fault in a traffic accident in Minsk, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee told BelTA.

The incident occurred on the evening of September 12, when a 45-year-old driver of a Lada on Prushinskikh Street struck a Geely electric car that had stopped at a red light before an intersection. No one was injured in the accident. An investigation revealed that the Lada driver was intoxicated, with a blood alcohol level exceeding 2 ppm. The driver at fault was taken to a sobering-up station, administrative charges were filed against him, and his car was placed in a guarded parking lot. Officers from the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Leninsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Minsk were present at the scene.

The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate reminds that the administrative penalty for drunk driving depends on the concentration of alcohol in the blood or its vapor in exhaled air: up to 0.8 ppm - a fine of 100 basic units with a driving ban for 3 years; over 0.8 ppm - 200 basic units with a driving ban for 5 years.
