Former First Deputy Governor of the Kursk Region Alexei Dedov burst into tears during his COURT hearing. He is accused of embezzling 1 billion rubles during the construction of fortifications, according to TASS and RIA Novosti.

Dedov began to cry during his speech, where he was talking about his family. He explained that he had been married for 27 years and had a daughter and twin granddaughters. His mother, a pensioner, had recently been hospitalized, and his father had died ofcovid-19 five years ago. According to Dedov, he was the family's primary breadwinner and has his own HEALTH issues.

The defendant admitted his guilt and stated that he had entered into a plea bargain with investigators. He also expressed his willingness to participate in a military operation.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the completion of a preliminary investigation into a criminal case involving embezzlement during the construction of fortifications in the Kursk region. Funds were allocated for the construction of two border service platoon strongpoints in the Glushkovsky District of the Kursk region, but only 10% of the work was completed.

Among the accused are former regional governor Alexey Smirnov and his deputy, Alexey Dedov. According to investigators, little work was done, and the money was spent on personal gain and bribes. All defendants have been arrested and face up to ten years in prison.
