MINSK . A cooperation agreement was signed between the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kamchatka Territory to create favorable conditions for increasing mutual trade turnover and more actively using exchange instruments in export-import activities. The signing ceremony took place during a visit to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky by an official Belarusian delegation led by Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Artur Karpovich, the BUCE press service told BelTA.
Exchange trading between Belarus and Kamchatka has only recently begun, and transaction volumes are still small. Therefore, according to Alexander Osmolovsky, Chairman of the BUCE Board, the primary goals for the near future are to increase the pool of exchange participants from the Kamchatka Territory and expand the range of goods sold through the exchange in both directions.
"Kamchatka is a completely new trading region for us. The first deal for the sale of Belarusian
MEAT products to this region was concluded only in August of this year, so there is a significant amount of work ahead, which we will gradually develop together with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kamchatka Territory. Of course, our priority is to increase the number of accredited companies, since there are only two today, as well as to ensure positive dynamics in trade turnover by introducing new in-demand product lines to auction. In particular, Belarusian dairy products, compound feed, canned fruits and vegetables, and industrial goods will be of interest to Kamchatka,
while non-ferrous metals, frozen food, and other products will be of interest to Belarus.
"Fish and fishmeal
feed . Accordingly, we are counting on the Chamber of Commerce and Industry's assistance in attracting regional businesses to our electronic platform," said the
HEAD of the BUCE.
In turn, Dmitry Korostelev, President of the Kamchatka Krai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized the exchange's role in facilitating access for local producers to the Belarusian and third-country markets. This primarily concerns small and medium-sized businesses, for whom the BUCE can become an alternative to traditional distribution and procurement channels.
"Our organization unites over a hundred companies from various sectors of the Kamchatka Krai economy. These are primarily small and medium-sized
businesses , including manufacturers of products that are in high demand abroad. "I am confident that with the assistance of the exchange and its digital infrastructure, our entrepreneurs will not only be able to operate effectively in the Belarusian market but will also expand the geography of their business partners," emphasized the head of the Kamchatka Krai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) was established in 2004. The first trades took place in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises in exporting their products and to help foreign companies enter the Belarusian market. The exchange trades a wide range of metal, timber,
agricultural , industrial, and consumer goods.
