The organization of spring field work was discussed at a meeting chaired by Governor Veniamin Kondratiev. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Territory Yuriy Burlachko, heads of relevant departments, farmers and scientists.
“Today, the situation in the fields is favorable, the snowy winter allowed the soil to absorb moisture. This year, as in 2021, we will sow about 1.8 million hectares with spring crops. To count on a good harvest, it is necessary to mobilize all resources and carry out the necessary work in a timely manner. The farms of the region should be fully provided with seeds and fertilizers, agricultural machinery and fuel. It is impossible to allow downtime of machines due to repairs or a shortage of fuel and lubricants. Sowing of spring crops must be completed by May 1, rice and soybeans - by May 15,” said Veniamin Kondratiev.
The governor noted that this year the area of soybeans will be increased by 23,000 hectares in the Kuban, grain peas by 13,000 hectares, and SUGAR beets by 8,000 hectares. These are export-oriented crops, the basis for products of deep processing. Veniamin Kondratyev paid special attention to meeting agrotechnical deadlines, adjusting the cultivation technology, taking into account weather conditions and scientists' recommendations.
“Last year we were able to achieve record harvests. First of all, this became possible thanks to the close interaction of our farmers and science. Today, Kuban scientists are ready to travel to the regions to share their best practices in carrying out top dressing and give advice on variety policy. We need to actively use this opportunity,” said Veniamin Kondratiev.
Deputy HEAD of the region Andrei Korobka said that seasonal field work has already started. Farmers began the first feeding of winter crops with nitrogen fertilizers, sowing grain peas.
“It is planned to start mass sowing in early March. Farmers are fully provided with all material and technical resources. We purchased the necessary amount of mineral fertilizers at fixed preferential prices. The need for seeds and fuels and lubricants is also closed. More than 33 thousand units of equipment are involved in agricultural work. At the same time, the renewal of the park continues. Last year, 3.4 thousand vehicles were purchased for a record amount for the region, over 17.6 billion rubles. The minimum plan for this year is 2.5 thousand new agricultural machines,” Andrey Korobka said.
