ASF quarantine introduced in five districts of the Novgorod region

By decree of Andrey Nikitin, Governor of the Novgorod Region, quarantine for African swine fever has been established in certain territories of five districts.

According to the press service of the regional government, the genetic material of the ASF virus was found in samples of the pathological material of a wild boar caught in the vicinity of the village of Zaluchye in the Starorussky district of the Novgorod region. The study was conducted by specialists from the Novgorod Regional Veterinary Laboratory.

The focus is localized. The infected carcass was destroyed with the burial of the ash residue. Quarantine restrictions will be in effect in the settlements of four more districts: Demyansky, Parfinsky, Poddorsky and Marevsky districts - at least until November 10, 2021.
