MINSK . OAO Ostromechevo has undergone a major modernization of its production facilities under state programs for the development of the agro-industrial complex. More than $18 million in investments have been made in the reconstruction and construction of livestock complexes alone.
As Oleg Burak,
DIRECTOR of the farm, explained in an interview with the magazine "Ekonomika Belarusi," these investments were initially financed by loans, but since 2010, the farm has been developing largely through its own funds.
Of the seven dairy complexes, five have been reconstructed and two built. The entire herd has been converted to new management technologies. While previously twenty workers tended to a thousand cows, today nine are sufficient.
OAO Ostromechevo is one of the largest agricultural enterprises in Belarus:
it encompasses 17 villages and cultivates over 15,000 hectares of land, including 11,000 hectares of arable land. The farm's primary focus is dairy and beef cattle farming, which doesn't prevent it from developing grain,
SUGAR beet, and fruit production, as well as maintaining an animal farm and exporting
mink fur coats, hats, and bags made on-site.
It's no exaggeration to say that the taste of
MILK from local cows is familiar to every Brest child, as Ostromechevo OJSC is the main shareholder of Brest Ice Cream OJSC.
