Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Juan José Bajillo said that "the progress made is very favorable for the country's international trade" when talking about the talks held under his leadership by Senasa and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the nation, culminating in a technical video conference between the two countries, in which was attended by experts from Senasa, SAGPyA, the embassies of Argentina and representatives of the Directorate of Veterinary Services (DSV) of Algeria.

During this virtual meeting, the technical changes needed to update the agreement on the EXPORT of bone-in and bone-in chilled beef were identified. In addition, the recognition of the refrigerated product shelf life has been extended to 120 days. In this way, new conditions were reached to expand commercial opportunities between both countries.

Algeria's HEALTH service has informed Senasa president Diana Guillén of its acceptance of a consensual health certificate that contains requirements for shipping beef with bones from Argentina to an African country.

Recall that during the visit, carried out in November 2022, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Algeria, Henny Abdelhafid, at which they discussed the possibility of purchasing beef from Argentina.

Argentina exported a total of 29,700 tons to Algeria in 2004, with the last beef export in 2018.

Algeria is the 11th export destination for Argentine agro-industrial products with a total value of US$1,572 million in 2022, up 9.7% from the previous year. In particular, Algeria stands out as the main destination for MILK powder exports with a total value of usd 351 million in 2022. Argentina is Algeria's first supplier of corn, soybeans and dairy products.
