In the poultry industry of the Rostov region, there is a positive development trend. The restoration of the positions of the Don poultry industry was facilitated by the resumption of work of large enterprises and their modernization.
According to the Don Ministry of Agriculture and Food, today 15 poultry enterprises producing eggs and poultry MEAT are operating in the Don region, employing more than 5,000 people. Most of the poultry farms specialize in the egg direction.
“Egg production in the first quarter of this year on the Don increased by 30% compared to the same period in 2021 and exceeded 396 million eggs,” said Viktor Goncharov, First Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region, during a visit to the Taganrog poultry farm. - Last year, during this period, the situation with the production of food eggs was affected by the suspension at the end of 2020 of the activities of the two largest poultry farms, which produced 45% of the regional production of these products. Last year, they began to restore their production activities: the Taganrogskaya poultry farm after the elimination of bird flu, and the Aksai poultry farm after changing the technological scheme for keeping and cross-country poultry. Today they are already at full capacity.”
According to the management of Taganrogskaya Poultry Farm OJSC, at the beginning of May, the number of laying hens at the enterprise amounted to more than 680 thousand. This year, the enterprise has already produced about 80 million eggs, which is 1.6 times more than in 2021. By the end of this year, the poultry farm plans to produce 230 million eggs.
“In general, at all poultry farms in the Rostov Region, the poultry population for the first quarter of 2022 exceeded 14.7 million heads, which is almost 110% compared to last year,” Viktor Goncharov noted. - As for the production of poultry meat, last year its production volume exceeded 93 thousand tons, which is almost 240% compared to the level of 2020. Of course, the production growth was affected by the fact that in 2020 the Damate group of companies resumed the operation of turkey and duck production complexes. A year ago, GAP "Resurs" also began production activities at the breeding grounds of the parent stock, which previously belonged to the "Belaya Ptitsa" Group, creating the Rostov Broiler enterprise.
In addition, the development of poultry farming in the future will be facilitated by the creation of a selection and breeding poultry complex, an order on financing, the construction of which was signed yesterday by Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin. The new center will help overcome the dependence of Russian poultry farmers on imported breeding material and improve the country's food security.
