In Kabardino-Balkaria, the spring laying of perennial fruit and berry plantations has entered an active phase. This year, as in the previous year, it is planned to plant at least 1,500 hectares of perennial plantings. The first 280 hectares have already been planted.
Kabardino-Balkaria is one of the leading regions of the country in terms of the establishment of intensive and super-intensive perennial plantings.
“Apple, plum, pear, cherry and cherry trees are traditionally grown in Kabardino-Balkaria. Not so long ago, plantations of peaches, nectarines and blueberries appeared. Raspberries and garden strawberries are also cultivated on an industrial scale. The total production of fruits and berries last year amounted to 535.5 thousand tons, exceeding the 2020 harvest by 3.5%. The republic not only provides itself in full with fruit and berry products, but also supplies them as part of import substitution outside Kabardino-Balkaria. This year we plan to increase the gross harvest of fruits and berries.” - explained the Minister of Agriculture of Kabardino-Balkaria Khasan Sizhazhev.
At the same time, preventive treatment of trees and shrubs against pests and diseases is carried out in the gardens.
