The government of Kazakhstan responded to the demand of domestic poultry producers to ban the import of cheap Russian MEAT. According to Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin, it is impossible to close Russian imports .

Let us recall that the Union of Poultry Farmers of Kazakhstan has repeatedly asked the government to impose a ban on the import of Russian poultry products, similar to the ban on the import of wheat, due to the fact that the market is faced with the problem of gray imports, when products that do not meet veterinary safety requirements are imported to Kazakhstan without the necessary documents and sold at a low price. It was noted that due to the flooding of the market with Russian products, domestic enterprises are suffering losses, many are on the verge of closure.

"It is necessary to introduce restrictions on the import of chicken meat from the Russian Federation, similar to wheat. Imported chicken is much cheaper than domestic. Price dumping is underway. There were cases when imported products were even sold under the guise of Kazakhstani ones," the HEAD of the Union of Poultry Farmers of Kazakhstan Ruslan Sharipov said at the public reception of the Amanat party.

According to Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin, the ban on the import of imported wheat is due to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On National Security of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union. That is, restrictions are possible when the economic and food security of the country is at risk. Poultry meat is one of the social food products with the highest import dependence: Kazakhstan meets the population's needs for domestically produced chicken by about 60%.

"Therefore, it is impossible to close the import of Russian chicken meat without the threat of rising prices and creating a deficit within the country. But if there are facts of violation of sanitary and epidemiological standards, counterfeit and other applicable regulations, you need to contact the Situation Headquarters to conduct research and, if the identified facts are confirmed, take restrictive measures," Zhumangarin noted.

Earlier it was reported that poultry enterprises in Kazakhstan are overstocked, the country is receiving massive imports, and enterprises are on the verge of bankruptcy.
