
These comprehensive, forward-looking and mutually beneficial agreements represent a significant milestone in the EU's strategy to diversify and develop partnerships, strengthen trade and investment ties with major economies, create new EXPORT opportunities and more secure supply chains for energy and raw materials.
CEPA will significantly benefit European farmers by reducing tariffs on agricultural products and protecting traditional EU products, as well as key industrial sectors such as the automotive, chemical, and mechanical engineering industries. Overall, EU exporters will save approximately €600 million annually in duties on their goods entering the Indonesian market, and European products will become more affordable for Indonesian consumers.
The agreement will provide EU companies with preferential access to the Indonesian market by eliminating import duties on 98.5% of tariff lines and simplifying procedures for exporting goods from the EU to Indonesia, including key products such as cars and agri-food products .
The deal will give EU farmers far more opportunities to sell their produce in Indonesia by eliminating tariffs on key EU exports such as dairy products, MEAT , fruit and vegetables, and a wide range of processed foods.
it will also protect 221 EU agricultural and food geographical indications (GIs) and 72 Indonesian ones. Finally, the agreement protects sensitive agri-food products such as rice, SUGAR , and fresh bananas, which will retain current tariffs, and restricts access to the EU market for other sensitive products through carefully calibrated quotas.
