June 8, MINSK. The basis of sovereignty is the development of agriculture and food autonomy. Political scientist Aleksey Dzermant shared this opinion on the air of the talk show "Budni" on , BelTA informs.

“Our President has a strong peasant past. During all the years of the country’s independence, he really invested in agriculture. Although opposition economists were yelling: what are you doing, why are you burying billions in the ground, why do we need these agro-towns, why do we need so much MILK, we can buy it in France, New Zealand, Sweden.But it turned out that agriculture is the goose that lays the golden eggs.We EXPORT billions of dollars worth of the same MEAT and dairy products to RUSSIA and other countries, not to mention the fact that we are fully self-sufficient all the necessary products.And if something is missing due to the climate - vegetables or buckwheat - then we have Russia. In our union, the problem of food security has been solved. It is enough to look at the situation with the shortage of wheat and bread in Western Europe. When did it happen that there was a shortage of key food products in the West?" asked Alexey Dzermant.

The political scientist stressed that the President of Belarus and the state did everything absolutely right, and now they manage to earn money on it.

"The development of our own agriculture and food autonomy is the first basis of sovereignty. Then energy, which we decided through an alliance with Russia, and military security. The armed forces are also important, a powerful military complex. All these basic things have been decided by us - we can live and develop even in the face of sanctions," the political scientist added.
