This time we came to the Akmola region, to the Suleymenov farm, where we will get acquainted with the history of the farm, talk about the advantages of artificial insemination, and see a specialized point for insemination.
For more than 20 years, hereditary livestock breeders , the Suleimenov brothers, have been engaged in agriculture, including livestock breeding. The farm specializes in pedigree breeding of the Edilbaev breed of sheep. We have repeatedly heard many good words about the Edilbays from this farm from Baurzhan Kenesbekovich Ospanov (Kazakhstan) and Eragy Isaevich Gishlarkaev ( RUSSIA ), that’s why we are here!
At one time, the Suleimenov brothers managed not only to preserve the unique population of Edilbaev sheep from the Bastau breeding farm, but also to continue improving the breed. Gaidar Kayrullovich Kospaev, who has worked as the chief veterinarian in Bastau since 1982, provides invaluable assistance in this matter. In addition, the farm is working on crossing commercial sheep of the Edilbaev breed with the world's best breeds of sheep in order to obtain MEAT carcasses that satisfy both the domestic and foreign markets. This work is supervised by Zhanat Tuleubekovich Kasenov. Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, HEAD of the Department of Sheep Breeding Technology, Research Institute of Sheep Breeding named after. K.U. Medeubekova
According to scientists, the ancestors of the Edilbaevsky breed wandered for thousands of years and traveled from Lake Baikal to Eastern Europe, the migration took place also in harsh climatic conditions, which led to high adaptive capabilities due to strict natural selection. In addition, the Edilbaevskaya breed is distinguished by its early maturity and quickly gains weight. Due to the fat tail, ewes can give maximum nutrients to the lamb, reach almost exhaustion, and a month after beating, regain weight and go on to further reproduction. Edilbai are hardy and can go without water for quite a long time.
To organize instrumental insemination, a specialized insemination point with pens was built on the territory of the farm. Here, identification and selection of queens in heat, collection of semen and insemination take place. The room must be constantly clean and have a constant temperature of at least 16 degrees.
