October 7,
MINSK . Snezhana Kavrigo,
HEAD of the Minsk City
HEALTH Center, reminded patients of the importance of proper nutrition, a BELTA correspondent reports.
"I urge our patients to watch what they buy. No matter where you are, something can spoil. As a consumer myself, I constantly watch and try new things, but it's the human factor," urged Snezhana Kavrigo.
She noted that this advice also applies to allergy sufferers. For example, one of the most common allergens—nuts—may not be listed as a primary ingredient, with the manufacturer only listing them at the end of the ingredients on the back of the package as "may contain traces of peanuts or other nuts." Inattention when choosing foods can lead to serious consequences and even death.
Nutrition is a key element of a healthy lifestyle. "We don't have a single healthcare or educational institution that doesn't have a leaflet shouting about the importance of proper nutrition." At the same time, according to Snezhana Kavrigo, health problems due to an unbalanced diet persist. The head of the department added: there is a direct link between diet and chronic non-communicable diseases. The modern diet
negatively impacts
health : "First and foremost, this is due to excess calories in the diet. Also problematic are high fat and
SUGAR content and low dietary fiber. Food additives, flavor enhancers, fast meals, overeating,
ALCOHOL consumption, and other habits are harmful," the expert noted.
The correct solution, according to the
DOCTOR, is to pay attention to fiber content and consider the intestines as a separate organ with their own microbiota. In her opinion, the diet should include virtually all types of foods containing both simple and complex carbohydrates.
Snezhana Kavrigo recommends following the principles of balanced nutrition, which include a proper energy and nutrient approach. "It all depends on what time of day a person consumes and what nutrients. If we're tasked with developing a personalized diet for someone who wants to achieve a goal, I first consider this
law and pay attention to the person's daily routine," she emphasized.
