RUSSIA has imposed personal sanctions against 23 Britons, according to the Foreign Ministry website.
In particular, Moscow blocked the entry into the country of the Chief of the Defense Staff of the British Armed Forces Tony Radakin, who, according to the department, oversees the training of the Armed Forces on British territory, the head of the Joint Intelligence Committee Madeleine Alessandri, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the British defense company BAE Systems Cressida Hogg (the company produces Bradley, Challenger 2, Paladin and other military equipment). The department has not published a complete list.
In July, Radakin said in an interview with the Financial Times that Russia had lost half of its combat capability in Ukraine . The Ministry of Defense responded by saying that the words of the British admiral were “discouraging in the universal scale of lies.”
A number of employees of the Royal United Institute for Defense Studies, the Henry Jackson Foundation and the analytical institute Civitas were also sanctioned. They, according to the Foreign Ministry, are involved “in the collection and analysis of information to fight Russia.”
“In connection with London’s implementation of an anti-Russian course, within the framework of which the mechanism of personal sanctions is actively used and comprehensive support is provided to the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev, a decision was made to expand the Russian stop list by including representatives of the military-political establishment, the journalistic corps and the scientific community. Great Britain,” the message says.
The last time London introduced a large package of sanctions against Russia was in May of this year. Then 86 Russian citizens and companies were subject to restrictions, including organizations controlled by Rosatom, Tinkoff Bank, Rosbank, AFK Sistema, Severstal, and Polyus. The UK authorities have announced plans to maintain sanctions against Russia until it pays compensation to Ukraine. In July, Britain removed businessman and founder of Tinkoff Bank Oleg Tinkov from the sanctions list on which he had been since March last year. The restrictions included the blocking of assets and a ban on entry. By that time, the businessman was living in Britain and was being treated there for leukemia. Due to sanctions, he had to leave the country.
