The Trunovsky District COURT will consider the case of veterinarians who allowed the sale of MEAT from a collective farm where an outbreak of African swine fever occurred.
The ex-head of the regional veterinary administration, the HEAD of the local district station for the fight against animal diseases and the chief veterinarian of the SEC "Kolkhoz Ternovsky" will be held liable under article 249 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of veterinary rules that entailed grave consequences) and article 286 of the Criminal Code RF (committing actions that are clearly beyond the scope of his powers).
The investigation is considering the precedent of 2019: in the fall, when the death of pigs from ASF occurred on the collective farm, veterinarians hid this fact by not destroying the livestock and not declaring quarantine. The outbreak was not localized, epizootic investigation was not conducted. Subsequently, the meat of animals infected with the ASF virus was sold for processing to Novoaleksandrovsky Yug Luxurious Industry LLC (YugRosProm).
