REO will choose the greenest Russian brands

The Russian environmental operator will select the most environmentally friendly brands at the Green Award competition among domestic companies. They will be evaluated according to the submitted projects and according to the compliance of the company itself with green standards. The winners will be able to present their projects at the Russian Ecological Week, which will be held in autumn 2022. This was announced by the HEAD of the public law company Denis Butsaev.

“At the Green Prize competition, we want to select projects that were created to form a new model of behavior in our society. This is the rejection of single-use plastic, waste sorting, recycling and much more. For our part, we can suggest where business is truly involved in the eco-agenda, and where it is ordinary greenwashing. In this sense, the nomination "Corporate Projects" will identify the best green brands. Those who make it to the in-person selection will be able to count on a grant from us and our partners. In addition, the winners will be given the opportunity to submit their projects for examination, and then present them at the Russian Ecological Week this fall,” said Denis Butsaev.

In the nomination "Corporate Projects" projects of large companies will be presented, which are aimed at the formation of conscious consumption, a new model of behavior and the correct handling of municipal solid waste (MSW). Descriptions of environmental initiatives in the field of sustainable development implemented by the brand at the level of its offices, within the company can also be accepted for participation. The advantage will be a large offline and online coverage of the project, public outcry, the importance of the initiative for achieving sustainable development goals in the country. The prizes will be awarded in two areas: brand projects and the compliance of the company itself with green standards.

“Last year, the winners of the Green Prize were awarded by Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko. She drew attention to the fact that the activity of citizens, volunteers and businesses plays a key role in solving environmental problems, and ecology unites everyone in this regard. And it's hard to disagree here. In 2021, we received a lot of applications, shortlisted 20 projects from brands, many of them were aimed at collecting and processing recycled materials. At the same time, both large and small companies were among the nominees. But most importantly, everyone was united by the desire to make their activities more environmentally friendly and encourage others to do the same,” said Dmitry Boyko, head of the PR department.
