Reasons for introducing restrictions

The situation on the egg market in Kazakhstan requires attention, as imported products often put pressure on prices of local producers. In order to protect domestic production, the Ministry of Agriculture, together with the Ministry of Trade and Integration, has developed measures to control the import of eggs. In particular, it is planned not only to introduce import restrictions , but also to take measures to prevent the sale of so-called "gray" egg imports, which implies the smuggling of products without compliance with the necessary quality and safety standards.

Memorandum of Cooperation

To implement these measures, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Trade and Integration, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Poultry Farmers' Union, the Industry Association of Egg Producers and the Union of Retail Chains. This memorandum became the basis for joint actions to stabilize prices for socially important food products, including eggs .

The parties to the memorandum expressed mutual interest in ensuring price stability and increasing the social responsibility of business. The Poultry Farmers' Union and the Egg Producers' Association have committed to maintaining stable selling prices for eggs delivered from poultry farm warehouses and in their own brand stores.

Price and Markup Control

The Union of Retail Chains, in turn, undertakes to monitor compliance with the maximum trade markup established by current legislation. This means that retail chains will have to adhere to certain price limits to prevent unjustified increases in egg prices. In addition, they must also exclude the possibility of charging additional fees for the sale of eggs of this category, which may lead to artificially high prices.

Prospects and Expectations

It is expected that the introduction of restrictions on the import of eggs and the implementation of measures envisaged by the memorandum will help not only protect the interests of local producers, but also stabilize the egg market in the country. This, in turn, should have a positive effect on consumers, who will be able to purchase eggs at more affordable prices.

Thus, Kazakhstan is taking important steps to protect its agricultural sector and ensure food security. It is important to note that the successful implementation of these measures will require the active cooperation of all market participants and compliance with established rules.
