In the analyzed month, there was a decrease in exports due to a decrease in EXPORT volumes of soybeans under the influence of a delay in harvesting, despite a record production estimated by the National Marketing Company (Conab) at 151.4 million tons for 2022/2023. .

SUGAR and wheat also saw declines in overseas sales. Domestic availability for export was less due to concerns about Argentina's wheat crop and less sugar cane processing due to climate concerns.

Beef also performed poorly due to declining world prices and lower export volumes. One reason for this drop in volume is an atypical case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy ("mad cow disease") reported on February 22 to the World Organization for Animal HEALTH (WHO). As a result of this incident, exports to CHINA have been temporarily suspended since February 23rd.

In total for the year, Brazilian agribusiness exports reached a record high in the first two months: US $20.1 billion . Emphasis on record exports of soybean meal and oil, chicken and pork, corn and pulp.

Chicken MEAT

Exports of chicken meat set a record for February: a record 372,000 tons worth $726 million were sent to foreign markets. Because Brazil does not have bird flu, SCRI/MAPA analysts say it can gain an advantage in its supply of the protein. The main buyers were China, Saudi Arabia, Japan and the United Arab Emirates.
