An investment project for growing vegetables is being implemented in Dagestan

On Monday, June 13, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan Sharip Sharipov visited the Derbent region, where he got acquainted with the implementation of an investment project for growing vegetables in open ground.
The project is being implemented by LLC "Flora" in the village. Chinar. According to the HEAD of the enterprise Magomedsaid Gamzatov, in 2022, almost 55 hectares were allocated for vegetables on the farm: more than 30 hectares are occupied by peppers of various varieties, 7 hectares by plum tomato, and the rest by Chinese cabbage.
Harvesting is scheduled to begin within two weeks. Thanks to the use of drip irrigation technology and compliance with agro-technological standards, the farm is counting on high yields of vegetables, in particular for tomato - up to 500 c/ha.
Magomedsaid Gamzatov also assured that there would be no difficulties with the sale of products, Flora LLC had reached agreements on deliveries to the country's retail chains.
Sharip Sharipov highly appreciated the investment project and recalled that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan will continue to support farms that use modern agricultural technologies in their work.
“The Ministry is taking measures to assist those farmers who rely on modern agricultural technologies. In Dagestan, more than 42 thousand hectares have been sown with vegetables this year, which is almost 2 thousand hectares more than in 2021, and if we talk about the commodity sector, we have ensured an increase of 15%. Our republic accounts for about 12% of all sown areas in RUSSIA under open ground vegetable crops and 67% of the area in the North Caucasus Federal District. The republic has competitive advantages in growing early vegetables, and our vegetable growers are gradually increasing their production volumes. Today it is important to introduce modern agricultural technologies more widely, to mechanize processes, in a number of industries we are already facing a shortage of labor,” said the First Deputy Minister.
