Guidelines for cultivation and isolation of pathogenic bovine mycoplasma Mycoplasma bovis on liquid and solid nutrient media have been created on the basis of the FGBI "ARRIAH".

On the basis of the reference laboratory of cattle diseases of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Federal Center for Animal Health" subordinated to ROSSELKHOZNADZOR, "Methodological recommendations for the isolation of Mycoplasma bovis on liquid and solid nutrient media" have been developed.

Mycoplasma bovis is the most common causative agent of bovine mycoplasmosis and is one of the main pathogens that cause many diseases, such as inflammation of the respiratory tract, arthritis, keratoconjunctivitis, mastitis, etc.

Since the clinical signs caused by this pathogen are not pathognomonic, an accurate diagnosis of M. bovis can only be made using laboratory diagnostic tools.

Isolation of M. bovis from samples of biological material in nutrient media is one of the classical methods of laboratory diagnostics and is of priority importance, as it allows obtaining the most complete information about the biological properties of the pathogen, including antibiotic resistance for targeted therapy. In addition, thanks to the developed method, it becomes possible to replenish the collection of M. bovis strains, which can later be used to develop diagnostic, therapeutic, and prophylactic drugs.

The specificity, sensitivity and other validation characteristics of the method were confirmed in the course of a comprehensive analysis of the developed methodological recommendations, as well as during commission tests.

This approach has been introduced into laboratory practice and has been successfully used for diagnostic and scientific purposes.
