Virologist Chumakov said about the "alarm signal" before revaccination

A low level of antibodies to the causative agent of the covid-19 virus  is the main alarm signal that you should pay attention to when deciding on revaccination. This was announced to RBC by a vaccine specialist, DIRECTOR of the Center for the Global Virological Network, WHO adviser, professor at the George Washington University Konstantin Chumakov.

“If you measure antibodies, and there are none at all, they have fallen low, then this is an alarming signal and you should hurry up and get vaccinated again. If your antibodies are at a good level, then there is no hurry in this, ”Chumakov believes.

At the same time, according to him, if antibodies are at a high level during revaccination, then an additional dose will increase the amount of antibodies and improve their quality. “That is, antibodies will be able to protect not only against the strain on which the vaccine is made, but also against all other options, immunity becomes wider. This is the main advantage of revaccination, this booster dose,” he said.

The expert noted that, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention , even primary vaccination generally reduces the risk of severe illness, hospitalization and death from COVID-19.
