EVRAZ enterprises are leaders in labor protection and environmental protection

EVRAZ NTMK and EVRAZ KGOK won in the categories "Environmental Protection" and "Health Protection and Safe Working Conditions".

Based on the results of work in 2020, EVRAZ KGOK was highly appreciated for the implementation of the Risk Management project, as well as large-scale measures to counter the CORONAVIRUS pandemic. The company allocated more than 800 million rubles to ensure safe working conditions at plants during the covid-19 pandemic , and more than 100 million rubles to help medical and social institutions in the Urals.

In 2020, EVRAZ NTMK allocated about 2 billion rubles for the implementation of environmental protection measures. A modern blast furnace No. 6 was put into operation at the enterprise and an obsolete blast furnace No. 5 was stopped, which made it possible to reduce emissions by 235 tons per year. The project was implemented as part of the Clean Air federal program of the Ecology national project. Today, taking into account the launched blast furnace No. 7, EVRAZ NTMK has the cleanest and one of the most efficient blast furnace operations in RUSSIA.

Environmental measures at EVRAZ NTMK in 2020 also included the modernization of aspiration plants in the converter and wheel banding shops, in the area of ​​slag-forming mixtures of the pre-production department. Three dust-collecting units were installed in the shaped-casting and coal-preparation shops of the coke-chemical production. All this will reduce dust emissions by 35 tons per year. Modernization of equipment for the transition of the plant to more environmentally friendly technologies will continue.

Every year, the plant reduces the load on water bodies. In 2020, the clarification pond on the Malaya Kushva River was reconstructed, which made it possible to significantly increase water purification. Water is purified using biotechnology: higher aquatic plants - eichornia, pistia, which are natural biological filters. The microalgae chlorella is released into water bodies, which saturates the water with oxygen, removes organic and inorganic substances and enriches the water with nutrients. Local reservoirs are stocked with fry of grass carp and silver carp. To preserve water bodies, the Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Plant annually increases the volume of water use in a closed production cycle.

The organizers of the annual industry-wide competition "Enterprise of the mining and metallurgical complex of high social efficiency" are the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Association of Industrialists of the Mining and Metallurgical Complex of Russia and the Mining and Metallurgical Trade Union of Russia.
