MINSK . Residents of Belarusian technology parks almost doubled their production volumes in 2023, said First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology Denis Korzhitsky during a meeting of the department’s board, BELTA reports.
“The main instrument for implementing state policy in the field of innovation is the State Program for Innovative Development. Today, this state program includes 92 projects, of which 41.3% are based on technologies of V-VI technological structures. The state program provides not only for the implementation of projects, but also for the implementation of activities on the development of innovation infrastructure in Belarus,” said Denis Korzhitsky.
Currently, the country has 16 science and technology parks, six technology transfer centers, the Belinfond and the National Center for Intellectual Property.
“The total number of employees of technology park residents in 2023 increased by 448 people, or more than 9% from the 2022 level, and amounted to 5,323 people. The volume of output (goods and services) by technology park residents almost doubled compared to 2022 and amounted to about Br830 million. Residents of technology parks shipped products (goods and services) worth over Br350 million for
EXPORT , which is 43% of the total volume of products produced; compared to 2022, this figure increased 2.5 times,” noted First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology.
In
2024 , the State Committee for Science and Technology plans to monitor the activities of technology parks, taking into account the approved promising model of their functioning, to assist in the promotion of the developments of technology park residents at the department’s exhibition events, and to approve methodological recommendations for the development of business projects for technology transfer centers regulating their activities. There are also plans to study the issue of developing a financial model of innovative development funds, taking into account the priority allocation of funds from these funds to innovative projects, including joint project financing with the Belinfond.
In 2023, under the state program, 10 new production facilities were put into operation, of which 60% are located in the regions. For example, at the unitary enterprise "Krasny Pishevik - Slavgorod" an export-oriented and import-substituting production of confectionery products was created. 114 jobs were created, 2.5 thousand tons of products were produced worth about Br12 million, including exported for Br2.5 million (to the Russian Federation and
CHINA ).
In addition, six more enterprises have been brought to their design capacity, including the production of electricity (Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant), instant whole and skim
MILK powder (OJSC Slutsk Cheese-Making Plant), high-tech products made from composite materials for the aerospace and defense industry (Institute of Powder metallurgy named after academician O.V. Roman NAS), complex-bent laminated glass, tempered glass for vehicles (UChPP "KUVO"). Denis Korzhitsky noted that in total, as a result of the implementation of completed projects, more than 2.5 thousand jobs were created and modernized.
The share of exports of high-tech and knowledge-intensive products in Belarus amounted to 39.5% against the target of 34.5%.
At the end of 2023, the total number of applications submitted for the issuance of protection documents for objects of industrial property rights amounted to 7,874 applications (102.3% by 2022). In 2023, there was an increase in applicant activity regarding filing applications for patents for inventions (105% compared to 2022 figures), including from national applicants. Denis Korzhitsky explained that the increase in these administrative procedures and, as a result, the increase in patent fees is due to returning foreign copyright holders, as well as an increase in applications received from residents of Belarus.
