The United States could become the second-largest market for Paraguayan beef.

Dr. José Carlos Martín Campercioli, President of the National Animal HEALTH and Quality Service (Senacsa), spoke about MEAT production for EXPORT in our country. While awaiting a final statement from Taiwan, he reported that there are currently 101 markets, stating that the United States will become the country's second-largest market by 2025 .

He explained that the domestic market is somewhat strained due to a significant reduction in production, although he emphasized that export opportunities are opening up even to countries that do not have diplomatic representation.

Over the past year, supply volumes have increased significantly, while an analysis of alternative options to address the barriers faced in domestic sales is currently underway.

The forecast is good, but only after 2027, and a reduction in livestock numbers is expected, as is happening in almost all countries.

The Paraguayan meat sector is experiencing a historic year. According to official data published by the Paraguayan Meat Producers and Exporters Association (APPEC), from January to August 2025, the total cattle slaughter volume reached the second-highest level in the last 15 years, surpassed only by the record set in 2021.
