Lukashenka on the situation in agriculture due to weather conditions: there is no catastrophe

June 22, MINSK . In agriculture, due to weather conditions, no catastrophe occurred, but where it has dried up, we must now quickly find our bearings. This was stated by President of Belarus ALEXANDER LUKASHENKO on June 22 with the leadership of the Council of Ministers, BelTA has learned.

Describing the situation in agriculture, the President drew attention to the fact that due to lack of rain, the soil has dried up not throughout the country, but in certain areas. "It's just here, near Turchin (the governor of the Minsk region. - Approx. BelTA), who sinned before the Lord God, and around me (I don't know what I sinned in), where I live, on higher soils, of course, it's dried up," Alexander Lukashenko noted.

However, this is not at all a reason for all responsible persons to weep and say in advance that the agricultural year will be a failure, the President is convinced. “I understand what is happening. Yes, it has dried up in certain areas. First of all, grains and grasses have suffered a little,” he said. In this regard, the HEAD of state gave timely instructions to the government, including the re-sowing of grassy fodder, with which the situation causes the greatest concern, unlike cereals. “If we don’t receive some amount, 200-300 thousand tons of grain, today our neighbors have a surplus. We will always buy grain. Moreover, today grain is offered at very low prices, sometimes even below our cost. It even makes sense to buy,” - said Alexander Lukashenko.

"That is, there is no catastrophe, and this is recognized by the Deputy Prime Minister leading agriculture. It's just that now we need to find our bearings in time where it has dried up," the head of state emphasized, adding about the importance of strict adherence to the technological process in agriculture, which allows you to save crops and get a harvest even in difficult weather conditions.

Separately, Alexander Lukashenko asked about the state of affairs in agriculture, especially in crop production, what happened to grain crops, what are the prospects for the harvest.

"I'm waiting for a report on what is happening in animal husbandry. How is fodder harvesting going? The first perennial grasses are coming to an end. Their productivity is almost worse than last year. We obviously don't get grass fodder from the first mowing. - Approx. BelTA. What needs to be done now to feed the livestock and not have to reduce the livestock?" - the head of state addressed a number of questions to responsible persons.

He noted that according to the results of five months in all regions, there is an increase in the production of livestock and poultry - in the republic by almost 5%, MILK - by 6%. "It is necessary to maintain these rates and get a good harvest," the President oriented. At the same time, he drew attention to the problem of stocks, even for food products, which, of course, should not be, especially in the face of a shortage of many positions on the world food market. "As far as I am informed, there is nowhere to put milk powder , butter and other things. The world is starving, but we have nowhere to put it," the head of state remarked critically.
