“The Moscow food industry continues to increase its turnover, provides products to residents of the capital and supplies them to other regions. In January-February of this year, the turnover of the sector amounted to almost 123 billion rubles - this is more than 15 percent higher than the same period in 2023. Of the total volume 22.4 percent - 27.5 billion rubles - were provided by MEAT processing enterprises. Another 15 percent, or almost 18.3 billion rubles, was made up by the turnover of dairy products producers; enterprises producing bakery and FLOUR confectionery products earned 17 billion rubles, or 14 percent. in the overall industry turnover,” said Vladimir Efimov.

The share of the food industry in the total turnover of Moscow manufacturing industries excluding the oil and gas sector in January–February 2024 was about 12 percent. The capital accounts for 6.5 percent of the total Russian food industry turnover. 

According to the Department of Economic Policy and Development of the City of Moscow, the growth leaders in January–February were flour mills and cereal producers, whose turnover increased by almost 83 percent, to 2.2 billion rubles. Beverage producers increased their figures by 72 percent - to 10.5 billion rubles, dairy products - by 36 percent, bakery products - by 30 percent. 

More than 81 percent of the industry’s turnover in January–February 2024 was provided by large and medium-sized enterprises—99.5 billion rubles. Compared to the same months last year, their turnover increased by more than 15 percent in comparable prices, the Department noted. 

As noted in the capital's Department of Investment and Industrial Policy, Moscow food producers are demonstrating a stable increase in product output, in particular by the end of 2023 - by 38.6 percent. This is facilitated by the active support of the city. Enterprises have access to more than 20 systemic support measures, as well as a number of anti-crisis tools, including granting the status of an industrial complex. it is owned by 24 enterprises producing confectionery, bakery, meat and dairy products. The status provides significant tax preferences: real estate tax reduced to 50 percent , land tax to 20 percent, regional income tax to 13.5, and a rental rate of 0.3 percent. 

Food producers in Moscow can take advantage of a wide range of support measures: preferential loans, preferential rent at a rate of one ruble per year for investment projects, as well as tools from the national Labor Productivity project, which allows increasing operational efficiency and improving economic performance by optimizing production processes . A set of measures aimed at increasing the investment attractiveness of the capital for domestic industrialists and developing production is being implemented on behalf of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
