Most Russians, as in previous years, are planning to spend their summer holidays at home or in the country.Only 7% of survey participants plan trips to far-abroad resorts

Sanctions and related restrictions on air travel had little effect on the preferences of Russians in choosing ways to spend their summer holidays. These conclusions were reached by experts of the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM) during the study (available from RBC).

The same number of people in the country are going to rest at home as last year - 52% of respondents. In 2020, when the tightest covid restrictions were in place, that share jumped to 61%.

39% are going to have a rest or spend a vacation at their dacha or garden plot. This figure has grown: last year, 34% of respondents told about such plans, and a year earlier - 31%.

39% of respondents planned to go on vacation to another city in RUSSIA, 12% are going to go to the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus, 9% - to the Crimea, 7% of the respondents plan to go on vacation in the far abroad (last year there were 9% of them). In this category, survey participants could select multiple answers.

Lack of money is the main reason to stay at home this summer (41%). Citizens are forced to abandon tourist trips much less often because of work and lack of vacation (15%), as well as for HEALTH reasons (8%).

At the same time, 17% of respondents are going to rest only on weekends, 16% want to take a vacation for two weeks, 10% are going to take a month of vacation, another 5% plan not to work for more than a month, and 6% answered that one week is enough for them. 44% of survey participants found it difficult to answer this question or did not answer it.

Plans to apply to a travel company to organize a summer holiday were reported by 5% of respondents. A year ago, there were the same number of them, and in 2020, 4% of respondents were going to turn to professionals.

37% of VTsIOM interlocutors are going to finance summer holidays from the funds accumulated in advance, about the same number (36%) answered that they would pay for the trip from current income.

The survey was conducted on May 7 and 8, 2022, and 1,600 Russians aged 18 and over took part in it. The survey method is a telephone interview based on a stratified random sample extracted from a complete list of cell phone numbers used in Russia. The data are weighted by socio-demographic parameters. The marginal error with a probability of 95% does not exceed 2.5%.

Earlier in a survey by the SuperJob service, 35% of Russians said they did not have enough money for a week's vacation. On average, Russians intend to spend 37,000 rubles per week of rest; last year, survey participants estimated such expenses at 36,000 rubles. At the same time, among men, the option with a higher cost of rest is more popular, on average they intend to relax for 40 thousand rubles, women on average chose 33 thousand rubles.

Russians estimated an ideal vacation at an average of 160,000 rubles, but women, on average, dream of a more economical budget - 143,000 rubles, while men would spend on average 175,000 rubles on an ideal vacation. Experts noted that the residents of Russia now need almost 4.5 times more funds for a dream vacation than real opportunities allow.
