Popova reported a slowdown in the spread of "omicron"

"Omicron" began to spread more slowly in RUSSIA and Europe, said the HEAD of Rospotrebnadzor. However, it still accounts for more than 80% of cases in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The omicron variant of the CORONAVIRUS began to spread more slowly in Russia and European countries, Anna Popova, head of Rospotrebnadzor, said in an interview with Naila Asker-zade on the Russia 1 TV channel.

“The dynamics of development and, so to speak, the onset of the Omicron strain has somewhat slowed down, and not only in Russia, but also in a number of European countries,” Popova said.

At the same time, more than 80% of cases of coronavirus infection in Moscow and St. Petersburg fall on Omicron, she added. In relation to the whole of Russia, this figure exceeds 50%, slightly fewer Russians are infected with the "delta".

Popova did not see the need for "massive" testing for covid-19 Society

The day before, Denis Protsenko, chief physician of hospital No. 40 in Kommunarka, said that over the past month, the share of omicron in Moscow had grown to 85%. However, the number of hospitalizations has decreased by two and a half times. Now, up to 7% of patients need hospital treatment, compared with 20% with the "delta".
