
Ukrainians earning money by posting content on the OnlyFans platform owe the state 384.7 million hryvnias ($9.3 million) in taxes, according to Ekonomichna Pravda, citing State Tax Service data as of September 1, 2025. This covers the period from 2020 to 2022.
The British streaming service OnlyFans is best known as a platform that allows pornographic content creators to charge subscribers. The service takes a 20% cut of creators' earnings. Its popularity has skyrocketed during the pandemic.covid-19 . OnlyFans is owned by Fenix International Ltd.
The company's sole shareholder is Leonid Radvinsky, a Ukrainian-American entrepreneur. He purchased OnlyFans in 2018.
"After reviewing the information provided, beginning on October 2, 2024, and as of September 1, 2025, the total tax debt incurred by individuals—tax residents of Ukraine—due to non-payment of taxes on income received from Fenix International Ltd. during 2020–2022 amounts to UAH 384.7 million," the tax service said in a response to the newspaper.
As the publication notes, the creation and distribution of pornographic content in Ukraine is considered a criminal offense. Under Article 301 of the Criminal Code, this can carry a prison sentence of up to seven years. Despite this, the agency continues to collect income taxes from porn creators , and the OnlyFans platform itself is a taxpayer in the country (paying value-added tax on content purchased by Ukrainian users), writes Ekonomichna Pravda.
An OnlyFans model published a petition on the Ukrainian President's Office website demanding the decriminalization of the creation of adult pornography. She claims to have paid 40 million hryvnias ($968,700) in taxes on her earnings from the platform. The petition has been supported by over 25,000 Ukrainians.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the petition, reminding that the Verkhovna Rada is already considering a bill amending Article 301 of the Criminal Code. According to the amendments, criminal liability will remain only for the distribution of pornography to minors or for the purpose of distribution to minors.
In May, Danylo Hetmantsev, HEAD of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy, announced that 350 OnlyFans models had declared their income and paid taxes in 2024. Last December, Ekonomichna Pravda reported that the models' homes had been searched by officers from the Bureau of Economic Security, accusing them of tax evasion.
REUTERS and the Financial Times reported that the owner of OnlyFans is considering selling the platform. The Forest Road Company may acquire a controlling stake. According to the FT, British entrepreneurs David and Simon Reuben (known in RUSSIA as participants in the "aluminum wars"—the struggle for control of major metallurgical companies in the 1990s) are in talks to invest in a consortium led by The Forest Road.
