“The authorities themselves are forced to press the “intimidation” button

- How do you explain the split in society because of vaccination?

“Before the pandemic, in our study, we identified several types of people’s attitudes towards global risks. There are four main strategies for coping with a threat that we cannot control. For some, this is alarmism. Among them are those who are waiting for immediate action by the state, and those who are ready to do something themselves.

The second strategy is a refusal to admit the problem, passive optimism or complete indifference: everything will be solved by itself, nothing can be done, but you need to hope for the best.

The third option is a strategy of individual self-defense, associated with a skeptical attitude towards raising alarm in the media, as well as low trust in society and the state. Such people are sure that, faced with a large-scale crisis, they can only rely on themselves and their loved ones.

The fourth strategy is passive pessimism and fatalism - nothing can be done, so you need to go about your business, somehow arrange your life. This was before the pandemic.
