The level of IgG antibodies in older people who have recovered from CORONAVIRUS is higher than in younger people who have had an infection. This conclusion was made during the study by specialists of the Military Medical Academy. S. M. Kirov and Laboratory Service "Helix".
“In the age group from 60 to 70 years, the average number of antibodies produced is twice as much as in the category from 20 to 30 years, regardless of the severity of the disease,” the document says.
The study involved 1.5 thousand adults under the age of 69 who had been ill with coronavirus in various forms - from asymptomatic to severe, they were observed for six months after the disease. Scientists studied the timing of the appearance of specific IgG antibodies to the spike protein of the coronavirus pathogen and the change in their concentration after illness. The observation period for participants is from August 2020 to May 2021.
In addition, the researchers noticed that the more severe the disease is, the more antibodies are produced in the body. This is especially evident in the age group of those over 50 years of age who have been ill - they have twice as many antibodies as people who have had an easy infection.
