More than 10 investment projects are being implemented in the six most affected by the Chernobyl accident districts of the Gomel region

April 28, Vetka. More than 10 investment projects are being implemented in the six regions of the Gomel region most affected by the Chernobyl accident until 2025. This was announced at a meeting of the President of Belarus ALEXANDER LUKASHENKO with the activists of the Gomel region, the chairman of the regional executive committee Ivan Krupko, BelTA has learned.

Speaking about the implementation of the state program to overcome the consequences of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, Ivan Krupko noted: in the Gomel region, a significant amount of investment is directed to the six most affected areas.

"The outlook for the socio-economic development of the affected territories for 2021-2025 is 13 major investment projects, 2 of which have already been implemented. 10 of them are the development of agriculture, 3 - industrial production," the governor said.

The implementation of these projects will create 308 new jobs. it is also planned to increase the volume of MILK production by 35 thousand tons, MEAT - by 2 thousand tons annually.

According to the governor, at the same time, in order to improve the quality of life of people, there is also a targeted modernization of social facilities. As an example: in 2023, it is planned to build and reconstruct 4 stadiums in the affected regional centers. The plans include the construction of a swimming pool in Khoiniki. "Hospitals are also being reconstructed for the installation of high-tech equipment - CT and MRI. We continue to build housing for young professionals, improve settlements, and develop children's rehabilitation and HEALTH centers," Ivan Krupko listed.

"Taking into account the commissioning of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, a transition is being made from gasification to electrification of residential buildings and settlements," he added.
