Rosselkhoznadzor: Almost 100% of imported dairy products in Russia come from Belarus

January 22, MINSK . Belarus took up almost 100% of dairy imports to the Russian Federation by the end of 2024. This was reported to the Izvestia newspaper by the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR.

it is noted that by the end of 2024, Belarus remains the leader in the supply of MILK, MEAT and eggs to the Russian market. At the same time, it is emphasized that our country has ensured absolute dominance in a number of product categories.

In particular, last year, 94% of dairy products supplied to RUSSIA from abroad were imported from Belarus. Our country is also the leader in supplies of eggs to the Russian market - it accounts for 87% of the total import volume.

In addition, Belarus supplies more than 50% of all imported meat products to the Russian Federation. "In 2024, the republic's share in beef supplies amounted to 46%, poultry meat and by-products - 51%, finished meat products - 97%," Rosselkhoznadzor noted. In addition, this figure was 17% in fish product shipments.

"Belarusian products have a good reputation and are in steady demand among Russian consumers due to the high quality of food products and competitive prices," Igor Karavaev, Chairman of the Presidium of the Association of Retail Companies (AKORT), explained to Izvestia. The

"Today, close cooperation has been established between the countries, within the framework of which mutual trade is actively developing, including on the basis of balances of supply and demand for certain types of food ( milk , meat , SUGAR , etc.). The dialogue is carried out both on a bilateral basis and through the Union State, within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States," the press service of the ministry said.

State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev told Izvestia that trade turnover between Belarus and Russia in 2024 could reach $60 billion. HEAD of the Center for Belarusian Studies at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikolai Mezhevich noted that not only trade turnover as a whole is growing, but also the shares of countries in each other's trade structure. The share of the Russian Federation in Belarus's imports in 2024 amounted to about 57%, which was the maximum value in recent years. In turn, the Belarusian component in Russian imports rose to 10%, which is twice as high as in the last decade.
