More than 3,800 traffic violations were detected on the roads of the Gomel region over the long weekend.

December 29, Gomel. Over 3,800 traffic violations were detected on the roads of the Gomel Region over the long weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee told BelTA.

During the weekend, regional traffic police officers were on high alert, conducting activities aimed at preventing accidents and suppressing serious traffic violations that pose a threat to road safety. During this period, 3,870 traffic violations were detected and suppressed. In most cases, drivers failed to wear seat belts, failed to use winter tires, failed to yield to pedestrians, and exceeded the speed limit. In addition, over 20 drivers were driving under the influence, 45 were unlicensed, and 41 ran red lights.

890 traffic violations were committed by vulnerable road users, 361 of which were for the absence of a reflector at night, 90 were in a state ofAlcohol intoxication .

The regional State Traffic Inspectorate calls on all road users to strictly adhere to traffic regulations. "Pay special attention to your visibility on the road at night. Using reflective elements is a simple but effective way to protect yourself," the regional traffic police emphasized.
