A car fatally struck a drunk pedestrian in the Drogichin district.

On December 29, at about 7:35 p.m., a 31-year-old resident of Drogichin, driving a Peugeot, was traveling along the H632 Drogichin-Radostovo-Divin road from the village of Novaya Popina to Zarechka. At the 8th kilometer near Novaya Popina, he struck a 55-year-old pedestrian walking on the roadway in the same direction. The pedestrian showed signs ofHe was intoxicated and was not wearing a reflective sign at night. As a result of the accident, the man died at the scene, and his blood was taken for a blood test. The investigation will provide a legal assessment. 

The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate reminds that pedestrians are required to walk on the sidewalk, pedestrian path, or, if neither is present, on the bike path or shoulder. If these road elements are absent or if pedestrians are unable to walk on them, pedestrians are permitted to walk along the edge of the roadway facing oncoming traffic.
