30 December, Grodno. The Grodno Regional Executive Committee's Department of Internal Affairs told BelTA how traffic in Grodno will be organized on New Year's Eve and how security will be ensured.
To ensure security and public order on New Year's Eve, entry to Grodno's main Christmas tree will be through checkpoints. Four checkpoints will be in operation at Sovetskaya Square: No. 1 - between the Tekstilshchiki Community Center and building No. 29 on Mostovaya Street, to the left of the entrance to the Community Center; No. 2 - the entrance to Sovetskaya Square from the Farny Church; No. 3 - the entrance to Sovetskaya Square from S. Batory Street; and No. 4 - the entrance to Sovetskaya Square from D. Gorodenskogo Street (between building No. 29 on Mostovaya Street and the square's park).
The Department of Internal Affairs reminded that alcoholic beverages, low-alcohol drinks, or
beer , as well as sharp objects and explosives, are prohibited from being brought to Christmas trees. Citizens under the influence of drugs or severe
alcohol will not be allowed to participate in mass events.
Alcohol intoxication . Pets, bicycles, and personal mobility devices are also prohibited.
Traffic police will be on high alert during the holidays. Increased enforcement will be carried out on intoxicated and unlicensed drivers, as well as to prevent accidents caused by them.
"Traffic will be prohibited from 9:30 PM on December 31st through 6:00 AM on January 1st on S. Batory and Oktyabrskaya Streets; and from 1:30 AM to 2:30 AM on January 1st on Bolshaya Troitskaya Street. Parking is also prohibited on all of Zamkova Street through January 2nd," the police department added.
