January 2, MINSK. The guarantor of the preservation of the future of the country is the obligation of every citizen to the Motherland as a filial one, as well as the preservation of the historical truth about the Great Patriotic War. This opinion was shared with a BelTA correspondent by the chairman of the Minsk City Council of Deputies.
He was one of those who, as part of the Constitutional Commission, developed proposals for changing the Basic Law, which was not easy - on some positions, discussions turned into heated debates. But all the proposals that are submitted for discussion by the Belarusians represent a consolidated position, a unity of opinion.
A special place in the project is given to the theme of patriotism. Among other things, it is written that "the manifestation of patriotism, the preservation of the historical memory of the heroic past of the Belarusian people are the duty of a citizen of the Republic of Belarus."
"Any country wants to see citizens who are soul-bound to their land on which they live, their desire to make life on this land better. Patriotism is love and devotion to one's country," Andrey Bugrov deciphered this concept for himself.
He noted that a citizen's duty to his country can be associated with filial duty, that is, duty towards the Motherland as towards his mother. And he believes that the words "duty", "honor" and "patriotism" should be absorbed with mother's MILK.
“Unfortunately, sometimes our neighbors from European countries, the United States try to replace the true ideas of goodness, national unity, love for the motherland, people and family, making it a cult of strength, evil, permissiveness, lies. I really want to quote the words of the writer Alexei Tolstoy, who noted: "Patriotism does not mean only love for one's Motherland. It's much more. This is the consciousness of one's inalienability from the Motherland and an inalienable experience with her of her happy experiences and unhappy days," the deputy added.
He also welcomes the consolidation of the status of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly in the project. Andrei Bugrov is sure that the Supreme People's Council is the highest form of democracy, which must be enshrined in the Constitution. "This innovation will once again demonstrate to the whole world that power in our country really belongs to the people, and the Constitution is one of the most democratic in the world," the HEAD of the Minsk City Council stressed.
As the grandson of a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, he is very close to innovations concerning the consolidation of the protection of historical truth at the constitutional level. "My grandfather was a combat pilot, my family suffered from fascism, like many residents of our country during the war years. It is our civic duty to the fallen to defend changes to the Constitution. By preserving the memory of historical truth, we will save ourselves and the future of our children" - Andrey Bugrov concluded.
