Confectionery Quality Day was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus

May 23, MINSK . The Day of Quality of Confectionery Products was held at the Scientific and Practical Center for Food of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

Aleksey Meleshchenya, General DIRECTOR of the SPC for Food, drew attention to the fact that now in the world there is a huge variety of confectionery products from various manufacturers. Therefore, the Belarusian confectionery industry operates in conditions of serious competition. "We are trying to compete, we are slowly winning back our domestic market, increasing exports . Slowly but surely. Quality issues play a key role in this work," he said.

“Quality and safety are the two main trends in the economy of Belarus. By and large, we have achieved safety in all directions, from the field to the counter, monitoring is carried out, there are supervisory authorities. And quality, in fact, is at the mercy of the manufacturer. That is he releases his product, lays down certain requirements for quality indicators and is responsible for how much his product will then be in demand, competitive, what demand it will be in," Elena Morgunova, First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Standardization, added.

Belarus attaches great importance to quality. "In today's difficult conditions, it is quality that is the main benchmark for the competitiveness of products both for each organization and for the country as a whole. Quality issues today come to the fore, are strategically important, including within the framework of various integration entities - the CIS, the EAEU . So , among the strategic directions of Eurasian integration is ensuring quality assurance, safety of traded goods and proper protection of consumer rights," the First Deputy Chairman of the State Standard emphasized.

During the Day of Quality, in the format of a round table, the problematic issues of technical regulation and state standardization in the confectionery industry were considered. In addition, the program of the event provided for the work of the Central Tasting Commission, the main purpose of which is to assess the organoleptic characteristics of domestic and imported confectionery products sold in Belarusian retail chains: waffles, oatmeal and butter cookies, confectionery products based on toffee, MILK, milk-containing and soft caramel masses.
