April 30, Brest. The Brest region has surpassed the milestone of selling 6 thousand tons of
MILK per day to processing enterprises. Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Food of the Brest Regional Executive Committee Maxim Gulkovich told reporters about this, BELTA correspondent reports.
“Today, for the first time, the Brest region has surpassed the milestone of 6 thousand tons of milk sold per day. The region has been purposefully pursuing this over the past three years. Large-scale
work has been carried out to reconstruct dairy farms,” emphasized Maxim Gulkovich.
In the southwestern region, 51 dairy farms have been reconstructed and built over the past three years. “42 thousand cows have been transferred from tether housing. Modern dairy farms contain about 87% of the total number of livestock. The prospect by 2027 is to transfer the entire dairy herd to free-stall housing in modern complexes with milking parlors,” said the deputy chairman of the regional agricultural food industry.
it is expected that this approach will allow milk production to increase by approximately another 20% in 2024-2025.
“The growth rate is also good. We added about 9% of milk in the first quarter.
Work in this regard continues. Farm construction and modernization are also underway this year. I think the Brest region will remain the leader in milk production, which it has been for the last two years,” - added Maxim Gulkovich. The increase in volume allows us to increase the workload of processing enterprises in the Brest region.
