November 20, Brest. In the Brest region, 82% of the number of cows has been transferred to modern technologies of keeping, Anatoly Shchuplenkov, chairman of the committee on agriculture and food of the regional executive committee, told a BelTA correspondent.
Up to 40 renovated dairy complexes are put into operation annually in the region. So, this year, a total of 42 dairy farms will be built or reconstructed. Financing of the work is carried out at the expense of loans from banks, processing enterprises and own funds of agricultural enterprises. At least 30 new facilities are planned to be put into operation next year.Targeted work to modernize the industry is yielding results. So, for 10 months, gross MILK production in the region increased by 4.1%. The Brest region ranks first in the country in terms of average milk yield per cow (5682 kg), its marketability (91.3%) and quality (97.6% of the product is sold by extra and "higher" varieties). it is expected that by the end of the year the productivity of the dairy herd will be 6.7 thousand kg of milk per cow.
"Dairy cattle breeding is one of the most complex and at the same time highly profitable industries, which brings the main revenue to agricultural enterprises. This year we plan to produce almost 2 million tons of milk, and to be precise, 1 million 970 thousand tons. This is comparable to the production volumes of the Mogilev , Vitebsk and Gomel regions combined," said the chairman of the regional agricultural production.
By the end of the five-year plan, gross milk production in the Brest region should reach at least 2.1 million tons with a milk yield of 7 thousand kg per cow. To achieve these goals, the number of dairy herds is planned to be increased from 292 thousand to 300 thousand heads.
