The veterinary services of the Leningrad region are carrying out enhanced control of all pig-breeding enterprises in the region to prevent the spread of African swine fever.
On Thursday, April 29, the HEAD of the veterinary department of the Leningrad Region, Leonid Krotov, in an interview with LenTV24, said that the threat of the spread of the ASF virus has existed for more than a year. Currently, a mobile team of veterinarians is carrying out a set of anti-epizootic measures in all areas - in particular, disinfection of private farmsteads.
The service is doing everything possible to ensure the highest level of biological safety of pig breeding complexes. The activities of slaughterhouses and companies that import live pigs into the region are especially tightly controlled. All animals are examined, and vehicles are disinfected. Epizootic monitoring is underway.
Krotov confirmed that all pig farms have a reliable zoosanitary status.
