Azerbaijan entered the top three largest buyers of forest products at the Belarusian Commodity Exchange (BUCE).

October 16, MINSK . Azerbaijan has become one of the top three largest buyers of forest products on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), the BUCE press service told BELTA.

Based on the results of the first nine months of 2025, Azerbaijani companies ranked second in terms of forest product purchases on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE). Residents of CHINA and Uzbekistan ranked first and third, respectively. In value terms, Azerbaijan accounted for over 20% of all wood processing exports through BUCE, and 60 Azerbaijani businesses entered into transactions as buyers. Yaroslav Kovalchuk, HEAD of the Foreign Economic Activity Department at BUCE, shared this information while speaking at the business program of the BakuBuild 2025 International Construction Exhibition.

"Azerbaijan is one of the key destinations for Belarusian exports through the exchange, and this includes not only lumber but also agricultural products . For example, this year, dry MILK , cream, and whey, as well as butter and MEAT products, were actively supplied to the Azerbaijani market. This means that the range of products traded on the exchange between Belarus and Azerbaijan is gradually expanding, which has a positive impact on trade between our countries. As a result, the share of exchange transactions in total Belarusian exports to Azerbaijan currently stands at approximately 22%," said Kovalchuk.

Furthermore, according to the BUCE expert, the possibility of using the exchange mechanism to sell Belarusian-made ferrous metal products to Azerbaijan is currently being explored. The launch of this new commodity route will provide additional impetus to the development of cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan in the field of exchange trading and will contribute to the further strengthening of trade and economic ties between the two countries.

Furthermore, in order to attract new trading participants from Azerbaijan to the BUCE, a memorandum of cooperation was signed with the EXPORT and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AZPROMO). The parties plan to jointly assist Azerbaijani enterprises in entering the Belarusian exchange market. One of the most important tasks is to ensure the sale of Azerbaijani products on the exchange by their direct producers.

A similar agreement was reached with the Small and Medium Business Development Agency of Azerbaijan (KOBIA), which expressed its readiness to conduct active informational work on exchange topics among the Azerbaijani business community.

As of October 16, 2025, 176 residents of the Republic of Azerbaijan were accredited at the BUCE (plus 38 new ones since the beginning of the year).
