They "worked" for less than a month. A young drug couple from Mozyr was taken into custody.

The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Gomel Region has established the circumstances of the illegal activity of a 26-year-old resident of Mozyr and his 22-year-old friend in the illegal trafficking of psychotropic substances, Maria Krivonogova, official spokesperson for the Investigative Committee of the Gomel Region, told BelTA. 

This spring, the young couple, drug users, were recruited by a major drug trafficking organization. They were instructed on the nuances of distributing psychotropic substances and their responsibility to their "employer." They then completed screening tasks and joined the ranks of drug shop couriers. 

"Despite the fact that the girl was officially married, she lived in her parents' apartment with a 26-year-old resident of Mozyr, along with her mother. The defendants received the addresses of hiding places from their handler, from which they collected the "goods" and took them home. In the apartment, practically without hiding from their mother, they packaged psychotropic drugs into small packages. They measured out the doses without scales, by eye. They used discount store bags for packaging . The stashes were made in forested areas in Mozyr," the official representative said. 

From April to early May, the defendants purchased at least 101.58 grams of 4-SMS and 51.82 grams of alpha-PVP for sale. Some of the particularly dangerous substances were placed in stashes. While the drug couriers were on their next assignment, they were detained by police officers.

it was established that the detainees had previously been charged with criminal offences. For example, in January 2024 , a defendant in a state ofA drunk man assaulted his grandmother's husband in response to his remark about withdrawing money from her card. The woman had a prior conviction for stealing money from someone else's wallet. "It's noteworthy that her mother was also charged with threatening to kill her partner and failing to pay child support," added Maria Krivonogova. 

Both Mozyr residents have been charged under Part 4 of Article 328 (illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, and illegal sale of particularly dangerous psychotropic substances in large quantities by an organized group with the intent to sell) and Part 1 of Article 328 (illegal storage and transportation of psychotropic substances without the intent to sell) of the Criminal Code. The defendants have been remanded in custody with the prosecutor's  approval .
