Minsk . At the 19th Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in Uganda, attended by Belarusian Foreign Minister
Maxim Ryzhenkov, a final document was adopted reaffirming the member countries' commitment to the principles of equal cooperation, BelTA reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The document addresses respect for the sovereignty of states, the peaceful resolution of international conflicts, and the strengthening of global stability.
It also noted the importance of intensifying political dialogue, expanding economic and humanitarian ties between Non-Aligned Movement member countries, and joint efforts to achieve sustainable development. Member states unanimously opposed the use of unilateral coercive measures. The document reflects Belarusian initiatives to combat human trafficking, recognize the diversity of paths to progressive development, and protect the interests of middle-income countries.
During his visit to Kampala, Uganda, the Belarusian Foreign Minister held a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of the Government of the Republic of Uganda and colleagues from NAM countries. The meeting with Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, Jessica Rose Alupo, focused on further developing a roadmap for bilateral cooperation and filling it with specific objectives in agriculture, establishing joint ventures in Uganda for the production of tractors and agricultural machinery, building infrastructure, and ties in the light industry. An agreement was reached on a forthcoming visit by a Ugandan delegation to Belarus, led by the Vice President. The parties expressed their commitment to further building long-term and strategic cooperation and agreed to hold a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in the near future.
During talks with Bright Rwamirama, Minister of State for Livestock at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries of the Republic of Uganda, the implementation of agreements following his recent visit to Belarus was discussed. The parties agreed to expedite work on implementing the provisions of the memorandum of understanding on food security. Specifically, they agreed to use Belarusian technology to further mechanize Uganda's agriculture, including for
milk storage and the production of milk powder. They also discussed the possibility of supplying Belarusian refrigeration and milking equipment and establishing joint agricultural machinery assembly plants in Uganda.
The Belarusian Foreign Minister's talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi focused on further intensifying political contacts, trade and economic cooperation, and collaboration within international organizations. The Iranian side proposed specific dates for holding a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in
Minsk. The Iranian Foreign Minister confirmed his readiness to visit Belarus in the near future. The parties also discussed a schedule of mutual high-level visits. The Iranian side also confirmed its readiness to host a delegation from the Belarusian Ministry of Transport and Communications to explore prospects for cooperation in international logistics and transport infrastructure. The Iranian side supported Belarus's initiative in the field of Eurasian security and confirmed its participation in the Third Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.
At a meeting with Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, the high level of trust in the interaction between the two countries was noted. The parties discussed the organization of high-level and senior visits, including within the framework of regional associations' events, as well as expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation, specifically the holding of a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in Minsk before the end of the year, and the implementation of joint projects in industrial, scientific, technical, and educational spheres. An agreement was reached to develop a joint roadmap for all areas of bilateral cooperation of mutual interest. Furthermore, the need to intensify efforts to improve the legal framework was noted.
