Waste-free and environmentally friendly meat processing plant launched in Kostanay

The northern industrial zone of Kostanay once thundered throughout the Union. At that time, an industrial giant worked here, providing the industry, including the defense industry, with meta-aramid (fire-resistant) materials. After the collapse of the USSR, the plant was closed, and the northern industrial zone turned into a deserted place.

But now it's back to work. Next to the already crumbling factory buildings, a new industrial complex has grown up, representing the food industry. On the territory of 11 hectares there is a MEAT processing plant, which promises to feed not only Kazakhstanis, but also foreign consumers with its products.

This project is fundamentally important for Kostanay: unprecedented investments for the city, private and borrowed funds invested in processing. The construction of the plant cost 7.2 billion tenge.

The plant has a full production cycle. First of all, this is the slaughter of livestock. The capacity of the enterprise allows slaughtering more than 1.5 thousand heads per day. Then the meat is sent to the processing shop, from where it comes out already in the form of semi-finished products.

The plant produces several meat products under the Beef EXPORT group brand. This includes vacuum-packed meat, offal, as well as skins, horns and hooves.

True, they do not plan to make goods from animal skins on their own. We are talking exclusively about primary processing for further sale for export. And there are already customers.

A potential buyer has been identified for other types of plant products. To begin with, it is planned to cover the needs of the market of the region and Kazakhstan, then export meat to RUSSIA, CHINA , the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Pakistan.

– The construction of a meat processing plant according to an individual project was carried out from 2019 to 2021. There were many complexities and subtleties associated with engineering networks. The most modern European equipment was installed here, which was not easy to connect, especially on such a scale, but thanks to the competent decisions of engineers and adjusters, the tasks were successfully implemented,” said Pavel Parkhomenko, foreman of the construction company Construction investment engineering group.

The Kostanay meat processing complex is unique not only for the region, but also for the country as a whole. Waste-free production is organized here. Environmental friendliness is one of the distinguishing features of the enterprise. Waste, which today in most cases is taken to landfills, will be recycled here. Thus, bone meal is planned to be made from bones, and ready-made products, for example, dog food, are made from it.

In addition, incinerators are installed on the territory of the plant, that is, furnaces in which waste that is not going to be processed is burned. There is also a wastewater treatment system. That is, everything that the plant, roughly speaking, “dumps down the drain” is environmentally friendly.

Kostanay Meat Processing Plant has confirmed Halal certification. Livestock, which is planned to be imported from seven regions of the country, will be slaughtered mechanically, and even the blood of animals will go into production.

Imagine a cow. Almost everything that is in her body will be processed. Only a few skull bones will remain for disposal,” said Nikolai Bochanov, deputy DIRECTOR of Beef export group LLP. - During the slaughter of livestock, it is planned to pump out the blood into special tanks, where it will undergo several stages of purification. Then it will be used in several directions: for the production of meat and bone meal components, feed for fur-bearing animals. It can also be exported. But this is in the short term.

In the future, there are plans to build several more full-fledged factories on the territory of the plant. In particular, a plant for the production of bone meal and products from it, as well as a leather processing enterprise.
