The approval of the appropriate veterinary certificate and certification of Russian enterprises was the final step towards opening the Chinese market for pork supplies.
On December 19 in Beijing, as part of the 28th regular meeting of the heads of government of RUSSIA and CHINA , the HEAD of ROSSELKHOZNADZOR Sergei Dankvert and the Head of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China Yu Jianhua signed a Protocol on inspection, quarantine and veterinary and sanitary requirements for pork exported from Russia to China , opening new trade opportunities in cooperation between countries.
Rosselkhoznadzor has been working with the Chinese side for more than 7 years on the possibility of supplying Russian pork to the Chinese market. The multi-stage procedure included the negotiation process, the organization of visits of Chinese representatives to Russia to familiarize themselves with the instruments of state supervision over the safety of pig products, as well as the preparation of extensive materials on all requests from the State Technical Institution of the People's Republic of China.
As a result of this work, in September 2023, temporary restrictions on African swine fever that had been in force for Russia since 2008 were lifted.
Rosselkhoznadzor and the State Technical University of the People's Republic of China carried out initial certification according to the country's requirements. Enterprises that passed the certification were selectively submitted for inspection by Chinese specialists. In December, a visit to Russia was organized for representatives of the State Technical Institution of the People's Republic of China to familiarize themselves with the veterinary supervision system and the activities of Rosselkhoznadzor research institutes, visit pig farms and inspect Russian pork producers. 3 companies were inspected and their applications were approved by the Chinese side in the CIFER registration system.
The opening of the Chinese market for the EXPORT of pork from Russia is of great importance for the promotion of trade and economic relations between Russia and China.
